Come enhance your mindset, tactics and skills as we build upon the basics you learned in your concealed carry class.  This class will teach you how to FIGHT with your weapon.  Learn how to shoot, reload, clear malfunctions, shoot on the move, properly use cover, effectively stop a human threat with appropriate shot placement and shoot from a variety of different shooting positions.  This eight hour course is packed with information and is ALL conducted on the range.  Be better tomorrow than you are today and learn how to better defend yourself and your loved ones in Pistol Tactics 1.

  • PT-1 is not a “basic class” nor is it “advanced.” It’s intermediate.  Novices and those relatively new to shooting are welcomed! I will get you up to speed!  The only requirement to take this course is that a student possess a valid concealed carry permit from their state of residence OR be covered under LEOSA (Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act) as a commissioned or retired law enforcement officer in the United States, who has maintained their state’s firearm qualification standards.

  ***Students must have completed this course within one calendar year to qualify for Pistol Tactics 2***

Hour 1 – Safety Briefing

  1. Welcome
  2. Instructor introduction
  3. Student Introductions
  4. Medical Plan
  5. Universal Firearm Safety Rules
  6. Class Goals & Objectives
  7. Discussion of Survival Principles
  8. Explanation of Tactical Gun Handling
  9. Explanation and Demonstration of Proper Grip
  10. Fundamentals of Shooting – (sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control and follow through)
  11. Draw Stroke Demonstration and Explanation
  12. F.A.S.T. – (fight, assess, scan, top-off)
  13. Explanation of Malfunctions and Clearing Demonstrations – (types 1, 2 and 3)

Hours 2–3.5 - On the Range

  1. The Draw Stroke
  2. Loading
  3. Stopping the Human Body (brain, heart and skeletal damage)
  4. Begin Live Fire – (The “One Shot” Drill)
  5. Add Assess and Scan
  6. Continue With Varied “Dot” Drills and/or “Heart / Brain” Drills
  7. Add Top-Off - Speed Reload (reload when you want to, not when you have to)
  8. The “Drop Drill”

Hours 3.5-4.5 – On the Range

  1. Fight, Assess, Scan, Top-Off – “Ball and Dummy” Drills
  2. Type 2 and Type 3 Malfunctions

Hours 4.5-dismissal – On the Range

  1. Kneeling, Sitting and Supine positions
  2. Using Cover
  3. Retention Position
  4. Shooting on the Move
